I have a 2 1/2 yr old male Papillon/Pomeranian mix. We adopted him a few months back, but he needs some work that I’m unable to help him with. I got him to be my ESA, however it’s not going to work out. It turns out that he wasn’t socialized. In the beginning with just us things were just fine, but as time has passed, he’s begun to show more of his anti social behavior. In the beginning of meeting someone new, person/animal, he will start growling and barking.

With other dogs he may chase them around for a bit but after a while he will be friends with them. I’ve never seen him with a cat so I don’t know how he is with them. With people when they are strangers he will bark and growl at them too, but after a bit of us just ignoring him or putting him up, the more comfortable with them he becomes and he wants to give them attention. I think all of that might have to be him protecting his home? Since I am disabled, I am unable to work on these behaviors. With me and others, he’s a Velcro dog. So if you can give him a chance, and you can work with him, he can show you he can do it! He really is a lover once he knows you, so if you can work on the other parts, he could be someone’s perfect pet!
